This book records the history of these traditional wagons built by British Railways and covering about half a million units since Seller Rating: % positive. These companies were nationalised to form British Railways in and succeeded by the creation of the modern railway system on privatisation from Locomotives, carriages and wagons developed to improve performance and operate on the variety of standard gauge, narrow gauge, miniature, light, industrial and military railways.

There was 'Wagons of the Early British Railways Era ()', 'Wagons of the Middle British Railways Era ()' and 'Wagons of the Final Years of British Railways ()'. The distinction seems to be between British Railways and British Rail, but the latest book does seem to duplicate the period covered by the Working Wagons.

Usually at heritage railways, but they rarely have books on wagons. Unfortunately not having local bookshops that stock railway books means I'm often buying blind and it can be disheartening when you buy a book online and find that you've already got most of it in another form.

The book gives a good history of British Railway goods wagons from up to the end of British Rail, although the later types of wagons are glossed over. This book deals primarily wirh the 'steam and early diesel era'.
